The Genesis of Inspiration
Embracing Motherhood: The Birth of NakshGeeth
NakshGeeth: Inspiration for the brand is my son, Naksh. When we become mothers, we consciously select everything for our baby. When it comes to making choices for my son, I embark on thorough research journeys to gain a deep understanding of the products in question. My quest for knowledge typically begins with a consult to our trusted friend, Google. From there, I delve into various perspectives, starting with Wikipedia's insights, followed by the wisdom of everyday people, the insights of doctors and scientists, and even the wisdom of spiritual leaders. It's what makes being a mother truly remarkable, don't you think?
This propensity for research served as the foundation for my understanding of what constitutes healthy clothing versus potentially harmful garments. I came to realize that clothing derived from natural sources, such as Cotton, Linen, and Silk, is not only gentle on the skin but also beneficial for one's overall health. In contrast, synthetic fabrics, composed of chemicals like Polyester, Nylon, Satin, and Rayon, pose potential health risks.
A Mother's Resolve
Turning Pain into Purpose
I became more conscious of my health and desired to welcome a healthy baby. I wanted to feel positivity in every breath, to savor the wholesome food cooked by my grandmother in a traditional mud pot, to experience the serenity of the waves in front of our grandma's house by the Sindhu Sagar, to chant more mantras, to read the Bhagavad Gita, to explore the life history of Swami Vivekananda, and to visit the Sri Chakreshwari Temple in Kodi Kundapura whenever I felt like it (where we serve as pujaris, as our family performs temple poojas). All these feelings emerged in my mind when I was pregnant, leading me to make the decision to quit my job, leave Bangalore, and return to my native Udupi to pursue my innermost desires.
A second thought didn't cross my mind because I had a traumatic experience during my first pregnancy. During a 10-week pregnancy scan, I learned that the baby didn't have a heartbeat, and the doctor recommended an abortion. I fell into a deep depression, and it took me approximately six months to regain my emotional equilibrium. I suffered from severe migraines almost daily and developed allergic rhinitis. I sought treatment from various medical systems, and while none could fully alleviate my problems, they did help reduce the symptoms. Remarkably, all these health issues resolved on their own when I saw those two pink lines—the first sign of Naksh's impending arrival. We were delighted to welcome him.

The Path to Self-Discovery
Rediscovering Roots: A Return to Udupi
I truly enjoyed to keep myself busy with what I desired. We joyfully welcomed our new bundle of joy, our son Nakshith, on February 13, 2020. He kept me engaged around the clock until he turned two years old. After celebrating his second birthday, a thought crossed my mind that I should take steps to achieve financial independence. I had a background in engineering with a specialization in biotechnology and a promising job at a research institute. However, I was determined not to return to the 9-to-5 routine because my top priority was caring for my son, Nakshith. I wanted to be there for him whenever he needed me. The only time I could devote to anything other than his care was during the two hours of his afternoon nap.

An Unexpected Dream
From Engineering to Entrepreneurship
I was in a line of thought; my mind started to work like I would invent a product now and take a patent on it. Suddenly, memories of my primary school days popped up in my mind. It was a government primary Kannada medium school called Irige Hallihole, where I used to be the topper and the brightest student. I even used to take some classes when teachers were absent. One day, the teacher who liked me so much for my brilliance, cuteness, and kindness asked everyone, 'What do you want to become in the future?' My classmates had typical aspirations like teacher, police officer, engineer, and doctor. However, when he asked me, he expected an extraordinary answer, perhaps researcher or scientist. To his surprise, I replied, "tailor." My friends laughed, but the teacher remained silent, not offering any reaction. I must admit that this idea was inspired by my mother's joy when she finished sewing a new skirt for me and my sister. She was a natural-born tailor who didn't learn this craft from anyone else.
Childhood Memories and Tailoring
Stitching Dreams: From Childhood Aspirations to Reality
Her motivation stemmed from her own school days, during which she had only two sets of clothing, one for home and one for school. After returning from school, she would switch to her home clothes and wash her school uniform. During the rainy season, she had no choice but to wear the same wet school uniform the next day.. Thus, she aspired to provide her children with an abundance of clothing choices, even though she couldn't afford expensive, fancy attire. She found a way to create outfits that were not just functional but also imbued with love. As I keenly observed my mother's work, my interest in tailoring grew. When I am in 3rd standard, I took an old dupatta, laid it on the ground, placed my petticoat atop it, and meticulously cut the fabric to match. Then, I used a thread and needle to hand-stitch the pieces together. To add an elegant touch, I incorporated the Zari border from my mother's old saree, resulting in a stylish sleeveless one-piece garment adorned with ethnic Zari borders. I even wore it to school underneath my uniform, much to my delight. This early exposure to tailoring laid the foundation for what was to come in my life.

The Academic Journey
Education Against Odds: A Triumph of Will
Thanks to God’s grace, my educational journey continued, and I eventually earned an engineering degree in biotechnology. I ventured into international clinical research projects, contributing to the well-being of people worldwide.
The Foundation of NakshGeeth
Crafting NakshGeeth: A Brand with a Soul
I couldn't shake the memories of my school days, and I made a firm decision—I would learn tailoring. I enrolled in a training institute and embarked on a journey that required me to travel to the city bus stop, enduring a half-hour journey to reach the institute. There, I dedicated an hour to my studies before heading back home. My goal was always to be there for Nakshith before he woke up from his nap. My husband, a remarkably supportive and loving person, worked for an MNC and was granted the opportunity to work from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This arrangement allowed us to settle in our native place. Whenever Nakshith woke up before I returned home, my husband took care of him. As I confidently walked down the road, well-dressed and with determination, I might have appeared as though I was on my way to pursue higher studies at IIT. In reality, I was on a path to learn tailoring. What troubled me was encountering familiar faces every day as I walked to the bus stop. They would inquire, "Where are you headed?" and I would reply, "I'm going to my tailoring class." Their surprised expressions and subsequent questions were predictable: "Didn't you graduate in engineering? Weren't you employed in a reputable company?" I would smile and answer, "Yes, I might miss my bus; I'll be on my way. Goodbye." While on the bus, my phone rang, and it was a friend asking how I was doing. Before I could respond, he questioned the background noise, to which I replied, "I'm on the bus." His follow-up question was, "Where are you going?" I decided to be honest and said, "I've enrolled in a tailoring class." He responded with sarcasm, saying, "Is this what passes for higher education in Udupi?" I retorted, "Don't judge anyone without understanding their life circumstances," and then I hung up. I thought to myself, realizing that my parents worked hard to provide us with an education despite facing many difficulties. We studied under a kerosene oil lamp when my mom used to get up at 5:30 am every day to prepare batter for Neer Dosa on the grinding stone. I should create my own identity; I should make my parents proud. I used to have one hour of free time while traveling to my tailoring class and back home. I used that time to search on Google for information on how to launch a fashion brand, the procedures in India, how to apply for trademark registration, and how to protect it under the copyright act. Google proved to be my guiding light, helping me reach my destination.

Building the Dream
Weaving Success: From Learning to Launching
I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Nagabushan Sir, an accomplished auditor, who played a crucial role in guiding me through the intricate process of legal registrations in my clothing brand journey. His expertise and unwavering support have been instrumental in setting the foundation for my business.
As a responsible mother, I meticulously select everything for my baby. I aspired to extend the same level of care to my customers. This is where the concept of healthy fabrics, the true foundation of Nakshs Designs, came into existence. My mission was to raise awareness about the harmful effects of synthetic fabrics and inspire people to consciously choose clothes that are safe for their skin and the environment."

The Essence of NakshGeeth
The Philosophy of NakshGeeth: More than Fashion
There is an important story behind my healthy choice. One of the most gratifying roles I assumed during my career was at St. John's Research Institute, within the Division of Clinical Research and Training (DCRT). Here, I was part of the PROGRESS project, led by Dr. Dennis Xavier, which aimed to manage lifestyle factors to reduce cardiovascular risk. We worked with employees from two companies: a power generation equipment manufacturing company and an Indian multinational motorcycle manufacturing company. Our team and the company's management jointly conducted this interventional study. Our responsibilities involved interacting with enrolled employees, collecting data, and analyzing how their lifestyles changed and contributed to reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. During my time there, I also took on the task of building validation checks for the Electronic Data Capture tool, despite having no prior experience in this area. My dedication paid off, as I quickly grasped the necessary logic and became proficient in its use. I even extended my guidance to our team members in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for data management. This role was deeply fulfilling, as guiding others instilled in me a profound sense of responsibility and purpose. Working in the St. John’s Research Institute Division of Clinical Research and Training was a rewarding experience because it allowed us to actively contribute to improving people's lives
Gratitude to Guides
A Salute to Mentors and Well-Wishers
I am profoundly thankful to the DCRT team, led by the visionary Dr. Dennis Xavier, for entrusting me with the opportunity to contribute to his project. My heartfelt appreciation extends to Dr. Deepak Kamath, whose guidance paved the way for my inclusion in the esteemed DCRT team. I am indebted to Ms. Freeda Xavier for her invaluable mentorship, and to Ms. Preeti Girish for her unwavering support throughout my journey like my mother. I hold a special gratitude for Ms. Susan Maria George, my first mentor at St. John's, whose guidance illuminated the path to realizing my full potential. I must express my sincere gratitude to Ms. Remya Sangeeth, my esteemed colleague in the PROGRESS study, whose indispensable support & guidance played a pivotal role in shaping my successful career. Without each of you, my journey would have been far less remarkable.

Giving Back
Nurturing Dreams: NakshGeeth's Commitment to Society
I count myself fortunate and blessed because my present circumstances are a reflection of my parents' prayers and the invaluable life lessons they imparted. Their principles of loyalty, truthfulness, discipline, and the importance of helping those in need have been instilled in my siblings (Brother Sandeep & Sister Saritha) and me since childhood. How we internalized and applied these principles shaped our paths and defines who we are today.
Our journey from humble beginnings to our primary government school, Irige HalliHole, involved crossing hills and rivers, often walking barefoot. During the monsoon season, we'd arrive at school soaked from head to toe, enduring soggy uniforms. Our summer holidays were dedicated to working in our family's horticultural land, particularly during the cashew nut season in February. Rain or shine, we dedicated ourselves to helping our parents, often witnessing thunderstorms and heavy downpours with fearless hearts. Looking back now, those memories fill me with wonder. We were not afraid; we felt as powerful and resilient as our parents. Today, as I embark on this journey of entrepreneurship from a middle-class background, striving to establish my own company and launch a brand, I find renewed energy and strength in these early life experiences. My journey may be challenging, but my unwavering faith in Lord Krishna and the belief that every experience is an opportunity for growth makes it all worthwhile.
My father faced numerous challenges in his life. He is an incredibly intelligent person with an insatiable hunger for knowledge, but due to poverty, his mother couldn't afford to provide him with an education. He had to drop out of school when he was in the 5th grade. One particular incident led to his decision to leave school. In 5th grade, he used a single notebook for all his subjects because he couldn't afford multiple notebooks. His English teacher, noticing this, asked him to get a separate notebook for the subject. Unfortunately, he couldn't, as his mother couldn't buy more for him. The following day, the same teacher examined his notebook and discovered that he had continued to use the same one. Without asking for an explanation, the teacher pinned him down, twisted his ear, and didn't let him move. Despite my father's tears and pleas to his mother for a separate notebook, she, a helpless woman due to their impoverished circumstances, instructed him to leave school. Reluctantly, he obeyed.
He began working on a landlord's agricultural land, but his thirst for knowledge never waned. He borrowed books from the landlord and read extensively, including Indian religious and historical books, throughout the night under the dim light of a kerosene lamp. In the morning, he'd return to work, ensuring he could support his mother and sisters. During that period, they worked not for money but for food. The landlord provided them with a small house and food when they worked.
Determined to break free from the cycle of poverty, my father searched for a piece of land that didn't belong to any landlord, near a forest. He constructed his first house using coconut fronds and leaves from an areca palm tree for walls, and tree trunks and grass for the roof. Tragically, this dream house was set a fire by influential figures in the village when no one was home.
Despite this setback, my father's ambition and determination only grew stronger. He didn't give up on his dreams. He built his dream house for the second time, this time using a sturdier mixture of mud, stones, and water for the walls, and tree trunks covered with vetiver grass for the roof. He also developed his own horticultural land and a unique identity for himself and his family."
He did not want us to endure the same struggles he had, so he provided all three of us with the best technical education. Today, we are proud engineers. When we graduated from pre-university college, our family's financial situation was not much better. We couldn't even afford the CET examination fee, but our PUC lecturers graciously paid our fees, and I extend my sincere gratitude to Krishnamurthy Sir, Lakshmi Madam, Suma Madam , Sandeep Sir & Seema Madam ( PUC lecturers Beary’s group of institution Kodi, Kundapura)
During this time, my father built a slightly larger house than the one we previously lived in. We still didn't have electricity; we relied on a kerosene oil lamp. My father, who was already financially exhausted, was determined to support our engineering aspirations. He managed to secure an education loan for my brother with the help of some influential individuals. Despite any obstacles my desire to further education remained strong and persistent. I prayed to Lord Krishna daily, hoping for a miracle in my life.
The true turning point in my life occurred just two days before my engineering counseling session. A relative from Bangalore, who was an engineer, visited our hometown. He asked my father about my brother's education, to which my father proudly shared that he had secured an engineering seat at SDM College. Then, he inquired about my own plans. My father, feeling helpless, mentioned that this year had taken a toll on him financially, and I would have to stay at home for a year before pursuing further education. This relative, with a big heart, asked my uncle (who was in a better financial position) why I couldn't be sent for engineering despite having a good CET ranking.
Inspired by this conversation, my uncle generously provided the funds needed for my initial admission, and he also assisted us in securing an education loan to cover the fees for the subsequent years. It was the visit of this relative from Bangalore that played a crucial role in shaping my educational journey in 2009. I often wonder if he was sent by some divine intervention to create real miracles in my life.
I graduated from engineering college in 2013. On May 17, 2017, I married the same person who had entered my life, seemingly sent by fate to work real miracles in 2009. He continues to support my goals, just as he did unknowingly back then."
As I set my sights on launching a fashion brand and armed with knowledge of the legal registration process, I felt I had completed half of the necessary work. However, I faced a significant hurdle due to my lack of experience in the fashion industry. In a moment of inspiration, I reached out to my friend, Jatin Jos, and asked her, 'Would you be willing to design for my brand?' Her enthusiastic support was a pivotal step in turning my dream into a reality.
The next question was, who would manufacture our garments? Who could transform our ideas, previously confined to paper, into tangible, beautiful garments for our brand? To find answers, I turned to Google for assistance. Although Google performed its part, I faced the challenge of not being able to find anything that matched our high expectations."
While discussing my business aspirations with my husband, he recalled an event that took place at the Mahalingeshwara temple, located near our home. The temple had organized a Punarprathistapana pooja, and during the five-day Punarprathistapana Mahosthav, my husband, along with many other people, volunteered their services. Shivajianna generously gifted high-quality white shirts to all the volunteers. He is the owner of a clothing factory in Bangalore and manufactures clothing for renowned brands not only in India but also in other countries. I had the opportunity to speak with Shivajianna, and his approachable and down-to-earth personality left a strong impression on me. It felt as though Lord Shiva had personally sent Shivajianna to assist us, alleviating all my worries. I was overjoyed, feeling as if my brand had already been launched and had gained worldwide fame. My utmost priority in my business is to serve our customers with top-quality products and to establish ourselves as a trustworthy and reputable brand on a global scale.
I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to my friend, Umesh Tmath for his unwavering support and encouragement in our clothing brand journey. His constant push for me to do more and emphasis on gaining knowledge through reading books have been truly transformative.
His belief in personal growth and the idea that we not only grow individually but also uplift those around us has left a lasting impact on me. His guidance has been instrumental in shaping my approach to both business and life, and for that, I am immensely thankful.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Manjunath Devadiga from Infatoz Technologies for beautifully designing my dream website. His dedication and countless sleepless nights to perfect every detail have truly made my brand shine.
From childhood, I've always carried a deep desire to assist those less fortunate. Now, I've found a way to channel this desire into action. I believe that by becoming the best version of myself and unlocking my true potential, I can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
To bring this belief to life, a meaningful portion of our brand’s profits is dedicated to significant causes. Every purchase supports the education of underprivileged children, improve access to healthcare for those in need, and sustains Annadhana Seva at our local temples. Together, we’re empowering young minds, nurturing well-being, and giving back to our community.

A Life of Purpose
Embracing Purpose: The Journey Continues
Recently, I experienced a newfound sense of energy and clarity about my life’s purpose after attending the Sudarshana Kriya Program led by Dinesh Kanchan at Mindlead School. This program, inspired by the teachings of Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji, The art of living organization, has been a turning point. I am incredibly grateful to Ravishankar Guruji for his mission toward a stress-free, violence-free world and to Dinesh Sir for his selfless guidance. My heartfelt thanks also go to Mindlead School in Saibarakatte, Udupi, for creating this valuable opportunity.
I am now more motivated than ever to make a positive impact on the world and live my life's true purpose by uplifting the lives of those in need."
